A Town Divided: Warren Township Fails to Pass Revised Health & PE for Grades K-5 & 6-8
Proposed curriculum failed approval in a separate 4-4 vote
Warren Township Board of Education Meeting
August 29, 2022
29 members of the public spoke on the Health/PE curriculum revisions. The public commentary is generally allotted 15 minutes, but there were so many people speaking, the 15 time slot was voted to be extended for 3 additional sessions to fit everybody in. The commentary was divided with many for the curriculum and just as many against it. A board member kept track and it was literally 11 for and 11 against, with the remaining speakers just having questions. The opponents of the curriculum focused on age inappropriateness while the proponents focused on bullying and diversity.
